Highlighting a Partner: Burson-Marsteller

For the past six years Burson-Marsteller, the leading international global public relations and communications firm, has been plying its skills to assist Everybody Wins! DC (EW!DC).  EW!DC’s attractive Open Books Open Doors themed Gala program is the artistic creation of the Burson-Marsteller team.  The Open Books Open Doors theme has been utilized as the focal point for our Gala Celebration, which provides EW!DC the financial support to operate impactful programs.

Burson-Marsteller’s most impressive impact, however, has been its continued involvement with the Power Lunch program at Thomson Elementary School.  Reading Mentors from Burson-Marsteller not only share a love of reading, but they possess a passion and dedication to their mentees.  A few of Reading Mentors from Burson-Marsteller describe their participation in Power Lunch:

Karen Jones – “I look forward to a break away from my routine at the office and reading with Tracy over the last couple years, we both light-up when we see each other”

Missy Britan – “I read to Treisy because I know that those times each week help her grow and provide me an opportunity to grow with her.”

Melissa Vayra – “Treisy is a bright spot in my week. I participate in the “Power Lunch” program because reading was a huge part of my childhood and I hope to give that to another child.”

Brenn Huckstepp – “I am beginning to see a new confidence in my student with both his reading level and his personal interactions. His shift from Dr. Seuss books to more advanced chapter books and his increasing comfort in telling me how is day is going is very encouraging for me and keeps me going back every week.”

Brianne Kohs – “I look forward to coming to Thompson every week and am constantly amazed at the achievements that my student has made over the past two years in Everybody Wins.”

Megan Kirkpatrick – “I look forward to Wednesday at 12:30 each week that I read to my mentee. The stress of work melts away when I see my reading buddy walk in the room with her school lunch and a big smile on her face. Seeing her get excited to read with me makes it all worth the commitment.”
